HOW TO CONTACT US

What does Massachusetts law require to be licensed in this state to do electrical work?
In the state of Massachusetts an applicant must complete an approved electrical journeyman's college course consisting of 600 hours, 8,000 hours as a working electrician's apprentice and score at least 70% on the exam.  Also, as a license holder you must complete 21 hours of continuing education each renewal cycle.

Can a handyman do electrical work in my home?
Absolutely not!!  No one but a Massachusetts licensed electrician can perform any type of electrical work in your home.   For Massachusetts General Laws on this subject:

Do you actually save money using energy efficient appliances and lightbulbs?

Yes!!  Buying Energy Star qualified products can save you up to 30% on your energy bills.  Some simple things a homeowner can do is to install fluorescent lamps, or have your electrician install dimmers, programmable thermostats, motion sensored flood lights and a timer to turn on and off outside lighting. For more information visit www.energystar.gov.

What should a homeowner ask an electrician before hiring them?

Generally you should ask for license and insurance info, any referrals of previous customers, and estimated cost.   Finding an electrician through a neighbor or friend who has previously used the contractor is a good idea.

What are the new regulations concerning CO detectors?
Carbon monoxide detectors are required on all levels of a home, including habitable portions of basements and attics.  On levels with sleeping areas the detector must be placed within 10 feet of the bedroom doors.  For more information visit this website:
